Air Structure Uses

When you are looking for some sort of building that is not the conventional building or skyscraper but something that will cover a potentially large area of land yet not have basements or attics and may not be a conventional use either. When you think about the alternatives you might take a look at an air structure. An air structure can be just about any building where the main support of the building is air. The air structure is erected and kept inflated using an outside source of air such as generators or blowers. Also since this is an air supported structure that requires an almost constant use of air if that air source depends on electricity then you will also have to consider a backup source of energy such as gas powered generators so that the structure stays erect during a power outage.

There are many advantages of an air supported structure such as it costs less than a traditional or conventional building. It can also be used as a temporary structure to cover a swimming pool during unseasonable weather. This may be a seasonal use and you can't really erect and take down a brick and mortar building but you can erect and dismantle an air structure. Another use for an air supported structure is for temporary warehousing for perhaps a sugar beet crop or a crop that requires a greenhouse like covering for a period of time. These air supported structures do not have to be permanently mounted or attached to the ground so they can be erected and then dismantled when no longer required. After the initial site prep and installation the ultimate users should with experience be able to dismantle one of the smaller air supported structures in a day or less depending on access and the stabilizing system in use holding it onto the ground.

This type of structure is used for sports domes and other sports activities such as golf or over swimming pools or ice hockey to name a few. Air supported structures are very versatile and have many uses. For example one use was the when a contractor installed 25 air supported units at key areas on the Alaskan Pipeline so work could continue uninterrupted. Now that is an impressive image to think about especially considering that parts of Alaska that the pipeline went through can be very inhospitable during certain times of the year. And this is also a strong recommendation for this type of alternate structure. The US government has used temporary air supported structures to cover a jet crash site before a snow storm could destroy the site and the investigators could continue to work on the site and continue their investigations.

These types of alternate structures prove to be very sturdy and reliable in many different weather conditions. They are considered to be multi-purpose and multi-use. They are meant to be used year round in most any type of weather conditions and allow visitors or workers to be comfortable when inside them.
