Can I use a kitchen/bathroom enamel over a high gloss paint?
Here's my dilemma. I'm painting my kitchen and I spent a lot of time prepping one of the walls. Washed it, sanded it, spackled it, etc. Then I went ahead and I painted it with one layer of a high gloss paint. After the fact I realized I don't like the color and the paint finish does show everything. Could I switch to a kitchen/bathroom enamel and paint over it directly? Or I am better off just sticking to the same kind of paint?
I should mention that I went with the high gloss because it is the original kind of paint that was used. Because of the way it's configured it does have a tendency to get dirty so in that respect a durable paint makes sense.
As long as the color is not too terribly different, you can paint it directly. If it's a drastic difference, prime it first. You can have the primer tinted to help with coverage. Hope this helps.
