Has anyone been through the Early Admit Program at Kansas State?
I am looking for someone who has been in the Early Admit Program at Kansas State University. I have an interview in April and I was hoping to get some tips or an idea of what they ask in the interview. If anybody can help me get into the program for vet school, that would be awesome!!!
I was not early admit, but I am a vet student at K-state. I can tell you what they asked me in my admission's interview and I imagine that they will ask some similar questions.
Be prepared for the number one question of "why do you want to be a vet". As well as what type of vet you want to be. Do not tell them you want to be a vet because you hate people. They laugh at that.
Be up to date on issues affecting veterinary medicine. They might not expect you to know a lot, but they do expect you to have an understanding of what a vet does. Any issues that are in the news are important to know like emerging diseases, shortages of veterinarians.... Huge at K-state right now is the NBAF being build right behind the vet school at K-state. If you don't know what that is google it because it's been big news lately and people at K-state are very excited, but people in Manhattan are angry.
Be able to answer any questions about yourself (strengths, weaknesses, etc)
The most important thing is to answer all their questions. Even if you don't know the answer, tell them you don't know and you'd need to look it up. Don't just say you don't know, especially if it's a question about yourself.
I've heard they're nicer to the early admit applicants than the rest of us. But, they usually throw somekind of curveball to the rest of us. They asked me what I though society's biggest problem is and how I could change it. If you're like me you have no idea how to solve society's biggest problem, but you have to answer it. Don't be afraid to take a minute to think about it. Try to keep the nervous habits like wringing your hands, shaking your foot or messing with your hair to a minumum.
Good luck, hope it goes well.
