I have been given a bronze lamp it heavy arround 5KG its 18.5 inches high the base is signed levasseur. Can anyone tell me would it be art nouveau and a rough idea of value I have no info shame I cant add a photo
It is really difficult to say without seeing a photo. Do you have a myspace account or a yahoo 360? You could post a photo there and then just add the link on Yahoo answers.
I specialize in Art Nouveau and Art Deco Art, and would be happy to give you an estimate of the value.
Bronze sculptures were very popular during the late Victorian, Nouveau, and Art Deco Era. Henri Louis Levasseur (1853-1934)
was a french artist who specialized in Bronze sculptures.
It's possible that the sculpture was added to the lamp at a later time (especially if it appears to be mounted on a separate base)
as this was a popular method of putting art to work.
Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
