what kind of humidifier should I use for my violin?
Right now I have an in case humidifier system (i.e a series of sponges and a humidifier that monitors the humidity in the case) but I am moving from the US to London where it is much damper. I was considering switching over to one of the humidifiers that actually goes into my violin through the F-hole. Should I change over or would this maybe be too much moisture for my instrument?
You may not need anything in London. In fact, you might have the opposite problem. I was there for 3 weeks in March one year with a guitar and started having problems with too much moisture - couldn't adjust it out with the truss rod and wound up having a London music store do a set-up for me - they had to level frets etc..
Honestly, any advice you're going to get here won't be that valid... unless someone from the UK answers. What I would do is contact a reputable bowed string dealer when you get there - they'll be able to advise you properly. Good luck on your new life in London - sounds pretty exciting!
